Job Descriptions in the field of Laboratory Animal Science

A career in Laboratory Animal Science involves a series of jobs with increasing educational and experience requirements and a corresponding increase in responsibility and compensation.

The job descriptions are general: each research facility will adjust these expectations according to its own needs and special situation. The job titles may also vary a bit from facility to facility.

You will see the name AALAS in the descriptions. It stands for American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. This professional association has created and manages a series of certifications for people in laboratory animal science careers. In rising order they are ALAT, LAT, and LATG.
